Genesis 6:9-7:24

 

The flood narrative communicates two truths about God: God is kind, and God is severe.  God is severe toward the corrupt, but God is kind in commanding a way of salvation.  This salvation is due to the obedience of one man.  When God shut the door of the ark he was being both kind and severe.
